Bejumy’s Heavenly Bodies and their Motions

There are many heavenly bodies in the skies above Bejumy. There is the Great Star, Mymysi, the body that acts as the world’s sun and the meeting place of the Mysiky. There is the Red Star, Jamysi, the guiding light for navigators. There are the two moons, the homes of the Water and Nature Mysiky: the silver moon, Mesumi, and golden moon, Mekemi, respectively. They are often viewed as harbingers of phenomenon and seasons in the world and also play a role in determining the visibility of the Floating Isles, better known as the Sajami. There are multiple planets as well, one of which is the glass planet Mymumi, a blue sphere in the night sky and Kaesiky’s domain. There is also the Molten Planet Mysaemi, Sesiky’s forge. Additionally, there is a small grey planet that looks cold and barren called Amiji. It houses the great Construct of Time, Soojoobymi.

Then there are the Sajami, a collective term for all of the islands that float above Bejumy’s face. They rotate around the world and are visible so long as there is moonlight shining upon them. The greater the amount of moonlight that shines upon them, the clearer they appear. Those that are on the islands will always see them. Sasiky dwells among them, but prefers the Island of Many Tears, the place where her children have chosen to reside.

The eclipses that occur are all seen as bad omens of some description. There are four different kinds that occur. The Silver Star eclipse is when Mesumi passes in front of Mymysi causing, it is said, great shadows to crawl from the depths, just long enough to find footholds in the world. The Golden Star eclipse is when Mekemi passes in front of Mymysi and is said to cause great uprisings of Baboji giving it the nickname, Baboji Eclipse. The first time this eclipse occurred, Bosijik’biji, the Black Harbinger and the prince and princess of the first city called down immense amounts of light and spatial energy down upon the first city, Sikoosej, as hordes of Baboji and Kooboo broke up from the depths of the city.

The moon eclipses, though not as major, are still seen as harbingers of terrible calamities. The Silver Gold eclipse is when Mesumi passes in front of Mekemi and is said to warn of great destructions. The Gold Silver eclipse is when Mekemi passes in front of Mesumi and is said to warn of great plagues.

Mesumi is said to be the dictator of the seas and of the movements of animals. It has a monthly cycle time with its full face indicating restful animals and its new face indicating fair seas. When waxing greater, the seas are said to grow stormy. When waxing lesser, the creatures grow restless.

Mekemi is sometimes referred to as the seasonal moon as its cycle time is yearly. At its new face, the cold, dry times are nigh. It is here one often sees snow in colder regions and is often dry in the more temperate climates. As Mekemi waxes greater, the temperature warms, and the new rains come. At its full face, the warm, dry season sets in, ripening the crops. It is said that those who procreate under the full light of Mekemi are guaranteed to have offspring, both for Kykoku and creatures. Finally, as Mekemi waxes lesser, the season grows colder and rains fall again, beckoning for great harvests and celebration.

Floating just out of bounds of the eight major planar bodies floats Amiji, the Well of Time. On its surface, it looks like a small, grey planet. Inside, it houses the three-eyed Soojoobymi, a mighty construct of unknown material and composed of three equal spheres, each housing its own eye. The spheres are stacked one atop the other like a snowman. Here at Amiji, the strands of the Past and the Future converge together at the Present, with one of each of Soojoobymi’s three eyes watching all three parts of the well. The bottom eye watches the past. The middle eye watches the present. The top eye watches the future.

Besides the sun, planets and moons, there are the lands of the Waiting. The first of these is the Halls of the Enlightened. It is where all who were enlightened and embraced the light go when their journey on the Mortal Plane is finished. It, along with the Land of the Lost Souls, while both are connected to the Mid-plane, are inaccessible to the living, even if they possess means of travelling the Mysami. The Land of Lost Souls, then, is the opposite to the Halls of the Enlightened. The dark-possessed enter therein and suffer eternal shadow. These two planes cannot be seen in the night sky.

The Halls of Kesimooji were created when the first Kesimooji team was formed. Since then, the memories of all who bear the name of Kesimooji are stored there, serving as a beacon of hope and a reminder of all who came before that stood against the darkness before them. It appears as a collection of many-colored stars in the night sky and each star represents a fallen hero, regardless of fall in battle or of the waning of years.

There are many other stars as well. These lesser stars are pocket dimensions that contain everything from treasures to artifacts, great evils, and mythical heroes and appear as little lights in the night sky. Many times, throughout history, these locales would be visited by those seeking treasure, darkness, and lost legends in a wide range of quests and vain ambitions.
