Jejijy (Energy Channeling)

The greatest gift given by Sijis’boby to the Kykoku was the ability to channel energy, also known as Jejijy. It quickly became clear that there were seven ways to perform Jejijy. No matter how one channels energy, there are two basic components to channeling: the target and the effect.

The target is most easy to understand; it is the focus of one’s casting. It can be a specific object, a location, or simply a range up to the extent of one’s capabilities.

The Effect of the channeling action is a bit more multi-faceted. There are five different parts to a channeling action’s effects. The first is the power of the the action. The greater the power in the action, the greater in cost. The properties of the energy being used also come into effect. The more one has to focus to get a desired effect from the energy they channel, whether from the energy themselves or from their Siba, the greater the cost. The longer the action lasts, the greater the cost. The cost of channeling is the speed it takes to cast the action and the amount of energy it takes to cast the action. While the ratios can be played with, there will always be an energy requirement and there will always be a time to cast.

The seven ways to channel energy are as follows: Sik’jy, Sajijy, Kubijy, Kukijy, Kujojy, Koojojy and Sabajy. These ways are often referred to as the seven techniques of Jejijy.

The first technique, Sik’jy, is a simple yet effective technique that allows for rapid yet energy-hungry channeling actions. The eyes are used to not just lock onto targets, but also to activate the action.

The second technique, Sajijy, has some of the longest activation periods of the seven but generally require so little energy to use as the activation comes from the practitioner’s use of their voice. It can be done with either spoken or sung speech. This style is highly favored among those who wish to cast massive, area of effect, actions.

The third technique, Kubijy, is best thought of as channeling through the use of hand-signs and other means. While challenging to master, it can be a very effective way to perform ranged channeling actions.

The fourth technique, Kukijy, is the primary method by which energy imbuements are performed. It is highly favored by those who want a fast and cost-effective way to transmit an energy attack but at the cost of needing to being able to physically touch their target.

The fifth technique, Kujojy, is highly favored by those who train in martial arts. The channelers must assume different stances that will affect the quality of the action as it’s being channeled.

The sixth technique, Koojojy, is relegated to being used on and with tools, pieces of technology that are simple in nature. Tools must be given an amount of energy to have their ability activated.

The seventh technique, Sabajy, is one that requires both patience and an acute awareness of oneself and their surroundings in order to make the most of it. While it is highly favored by stealthy adventurers, it is also strangely favored by mighty warriors of certain nations and cultures over the years.

This is, in a nutshell, Jejijy and its most basic of components.
